RE:Pumpkin Hollow Suspension (both projects) - why?
RE:Pumpkin Hollow Suspension (both projects) - why?Italiano, I think the 'suspension' is referencing the halt of production and all mining activities which occured during the BR proceedings.
It is my understanding that the work force has been terminated (with some skeleton care and maintenance personnel likely still on site). But there is no active mining, milling or production. Those workers, and those activities just don't exist any longer.
Therefore, the mine is 'inactive' until a new owner can hire a workforce and go through the lengthy and costly process of restarting mining and milling.
Having seen some of these in my career, the biggest hurdle may be the water issue. If those pumps were turned off and the UG allowed to flood, this mine may never again be worth the cost of rehabilitation. So far, I've seen no definitive statement on the status of the dewatering.
