RE:RE:RE:RE:Short Positions - Up againMarkidesad wrote: Maybe everybody knows this but I want to point out that shorters sometimes use OUR sshares to do their job. Ages ago I had some shares in a pennystock ( guess it was MSQ ) that I wanted to get rid of, I placed a sell-order and got the answer that de deal was impossible because I had no such shares in my possession. When I asked my broker ( Keytrade ) about that they answered that some illegal practices could happen in the States or in Canada; a person could loan my shares and use them to short the market. So i.o.w. they used my shares to keep the SP down.
Could this, nowadays, still happen, eventualy with Almonty, ?
Huh? No, this can not happen unless there is fraud/theft/embezzlement. Which isn't related to shorts. Nobody goes into the bank throws a bag on the counter and yells, throw the cash in the bag! This is a short sale ! Is it possible you have a margin account, had a margin call, and your broker sold you out because you didn't meet the margin requirement? Never mix margin with penny stocks. And foreign owned brokers.
