New Press Release - PEL 83 Second Campaign - Update 3 Accele

New Press Release - PEL 83 Second Campaign - Update 3 Accele

New Press Release - PEL 83 Second Campaign - Update 3 Acceleration of Operations Including Spud of Mopane 2-A Well

always worth to read what v10 has written on the oancontinental energy hc forum

Interesting press release by Sintana, especially the December 2024 PEL 83 Permit map showing current stratigraphic Cretaceous prospects, that I would speculate have associated 3D defined AVO's to qualify as a prospect.
Sintana put out their press release on the Mopane-2X that started drilling today.
Very similar to the GALP release BUT contains the PEL 83 permit map showing the Mopane Prospect is currently mapped as 585 sq kms~50kms x12 kms! And I would speculate that the 10 billion boe in place mean number just might be a bit pessimistic!

Map also shows the step out wells they are drilling are ~8 km step outs- very aggressive but shows their confidence in the 3D seismic and AVO analysis.

Of further interest on the permit map is the two additional Cretaceous stratigraphic prospects to the north, as yet undrilled!
On a rough view, they only look about 400 sq kms and 200 sq kms!!!

December 2024 PEL 83 Prospect Map - Sintana Energy July 2023 PEL 83 Prospect Map- Sintana Energy
Comparing the current December 2024 AVO based prospect map with the July 2023 prospect map which contained structural and stratigraphic prospects. On the July 2023 prospect map, structural carbonate bank prospects were still fashionable then as the Shell Cullinan-1 structural high carbonate bank prospect was still drilling and not yet proved to be an oil filled tight carbonate reservoir- non-commercial!
So after the Mopane stratigraphic prospect success, I would speculate that the HoneyB and Lead B structural prospects have disappeared from PEL 83.
But Scorpion, Cheetah, Eel prospects and Lead A remain.

So very large Cretaceous stratigraphic traps with associated oil and gas resources are present in the Orange basin, based on the Mopane Discovery and current appraisal/development drilling, stating the bleeding obvious!

And of course, the Saturn Prospect is mapped as a very large Stratigraphic prospect containing internal structural closures.

And Total are currently drilling Tambotti-1X as a Cenomanian target and BP/ENI start drilling around 20 December 2024, the first of their two wells on the Sagittarius Prospect in PEL 85,speculated to be a Cenomanian Mopane 'look-a-like' , immediately adjacent and to the south east of the Mopane Oil Field- the green blob not named.

All very interesting for Sintana and also for PCL should Woodside exercise their drill option and then get around to ready to drill sometime in 2025!
