RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:First elected in 2004 Comrade Packer,
I the mid 2000 Enbridge, a major Canadian pipeline company, proposed Northern Gateway pipeline. It failed to consult you, mr. Savant, otherwise it would be told about rocky mountains and special machinery.
There are groups that oppose every pipeline projects. Period. They are very proactive, very loud and well financed, often by foreign interests. And there are groups who see huge economic benefits.
The project was active for about 10 years, while these two groups were fighting. How this all end up?
"Upon taking office in 2015, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau banned oil tanker traffic on the north coast of British Columbia, effectively killing the project. On 29 November 2016 Trudeau officially rejected plans for the pipelines."
As an alternative, a native businessman proposed the Eagle Spirit Pipeline. This project also faced challenges, mainly:
"Barriers facing the project were National Energy Board approval, and the tanker ban implemented by the Justin Trudeau government and Bill C48"
Instead, Trudeau hand picked TMX running through downtown Vancouver. It was eventually built, but no professional saboteurs would do a better job to ensure that it would become the world's most expensive pipeline that took forever to build.
But let's not complain and say "thinks a lot, and good bye."
