RE:What is Tax Loss Selling ("Season") in Canada Lurk & Learns:
Just a note to thank you to the new Lurk & Learns for your "likes", now up to 32. WOW!
Also just to wish all the best of the season; but especially with a hope for a Happy New Year wrt to Cascadura (5 & 6) drilling in Q1 and a positive Central Block DD/funding outcome.
We are also reminded as to why PS must always acknowledge the HSE incident/accident statistics as this data is an indicator of a company's respect for their employees.
Meaning the tragic accident on an off shore platform (still under investigation) should remind us of the personal risk taken to deliver results to shareholders & investors.
i.e. No job is that important that (alleged) corner cutting should be condoned. As the YT videos show this was a tragic event for the family and the industry as a whole, especially during the Christmas season. Hence kudos for TXP's decision to not drill during/in the height of SOCA PARANG.
As we look foward to the end of what might (or might not) include tax loss selling, we are reminded that"
"Last trading day to complete trade settlement in Canada in 2024, notably for tax-loss selling planning.
The last trading day to complete trade settlement in 2024 may be December 30.
It is anticipated that as of May 27, 2024, the standard settlement cycle for most North American trades in securities shortens to a proposed one day after the trade date (T + 1) from the current standard of two days after trade date (T + 2).
Please speak with your relationship manager for more information about your particular circumstances."

We might also want to take a look at the recent "gyration(s)" of the shorts. My theory (speculation) being, as a possible form of "front running", "tipping", etc, certain houses "appear" to be nimble in advance of the recent project slippage announcements, either suspecting (which is OK) or getting a heads up (which is not OK) of yet another delay which the market may not take too kindley to.
BWDIK?
GLTAL GLAP Caveat Emptor
Cheers
