BOD appointmentsI find it very interesting that not a single poster on any of the BB's have commented on the importance of the Bill Hayden arrival. He has been associated with Bob Friedland for 30 years! Ivanhoe currently trades at $17.60 per share . They do not have any significant gold exposure. Their earnings per share are just $0.16. A buyout of QWN at $4 billion with 300,000 ounces annual production with $2,800 gold would increase their per share earnings by somewhere in vicinity of $0.40 on a fully diluted basis to $0.56 (all things being equal)!
Not saying anything even remotely to suggest this, but ES made his big bucks on the buyout by Kirkland and subsequent huge runup in their share price. Just an idle speculation this morning. got too much time on my hands.
Prior to this appointment I thought the eventual acquiror here would be a "Major" gold miner. But this appointment intrigues me. I Was a holder in a large junnior many years ago which had a similiar occurence with a Long term Rio director being appointed to their BOD, and not long after a large Rio investment and major stake in the project! So, it can happen. In NFG case the possibility of a huge share price increase fairly quickly could make the $4 billion turn into $8 billion in just a couple of years if an Ivanhoe deal could materialize (again all things being equal)! The numbers make sense! A double on an AEM takeout would be very unlikely! ES is a very successful "numbers guy"!
