Materials, thanx for the reply.

I think the question you have to ask yourself is what is the status quo?

Reliance on China, the US's #1 enemy, would be the status quo.  Do you really think, from judgingTrump's actions thus far, that he is willing to allow the US to remain beholden to China going forward?

What would that look like?  With the battle of, and eventual settlement of AI dominance, as the eventual final prize; again, do you really believe Trump will allow China to continue to grow its influence and manipulate strategic industries throughout the globe?  End result being...the deterioration and threatening of US superiority?  Come on.

China banning and threatening to ban further critical minerals in an attempt to hurt the US's capability to defend itself through it own military, or sustain a growing and health economy are just two examples of why the US cannot continue with the 'status quo.'

Will there be a deal one day between Trump and Xi...potentially absolutely?

Can there be a deal before there is even a conflict?  Not with Trump's playbook in hand...Trump hasn't even commented on China in the last few weeks let a lone issue any pain that would bring Xi to the table to negotiate...

You don't make up with your wife before you have a fight...you make up after you have had the fight...right Student?  hah I couldn't help myself, apologies.

Valid comment but again, ya gotta play the man not the hand.
