RE:May need graphite Materials,
Syrah is no longer relevant...they are done imho. They have mine which may never come back on line and a facility almost built that the US govt owns, not them....the money they have in the bank is US govt money, period.
Syrah is done, unless they can partner with or secure non Chinese graphite feed stock, like yesterday. Shareholders are on the brink of being the next Titanic if they cannot execute on the above.
Mozambique and China have a 50 YEAR trading and co-operation history...they are friends, good friends. Does anyone honestly believe that China will allow a strategic graphite producing asset designed to support the US industry to go back on line, precisely at a time when the US and China are going to be squaring off on winner take all trade war...graphite being one of the negotiating pawns (China recently threatened restriction)....if Balma goes back on line anytime soon, that is a huge win for the US, if it doesn't...its a huge win for China.
It ain't gonna happen.
Syrah is irrelevant. That mine has been down for many many months now and losing massive money for years now. No amount of stored feedstock is going to help them deliver on the numerous US contracts they have promised to deliver on.
Syrah is dead on arrival, and their shareholders should be sweating bullets.
Who else is going to lend them money? No one.
The US gov't was lazy and ignorant in assessing the risk of funding a company doing business with a Chinese friendly AK47 country like Mozambique. Now, they are paying for it.
I hope Syrah can pull it out...we need so much supply for NA there is plenty of room for everyone...connecting the geopolitical dots, I just don't think it's in China's interest that mine comes back on line any time soon, and for Syrah's contract and debt obligations, that's a killer unfortunately.
The only question now is who can step up and fill the void left by Syrah's demise...that's the only question that matters.
