Yes, the non farms payroll is inflating the jobs data by a significant amount. There is a wide divergence between the establishment survey and the household data. The establishment survey says the US added 2.232 million jobs in calendar 2024 or the equivalent of about 186k jobs per month. The household survey on the other hand says the US added only 537k jobs for the year or the equivalent of ~ 45k jobs per month. The birth/death model can partially explain this difference.
