Today: LUCA Commences Exploration Drilling at Campo Morado TODAY - Luca Mining (LUCA.v LUCMF) Commences First Exploration Drilling Campaign at Campo Morado in Over a Decade
Today, Luca Mining (LUCA.v LUCMF) announced its has commenced the exploration drilling campaign at its Campo Morado Mine in Mexico, marking the first significant exploration at the property since 2014.
Campo Morado Overview
- Located in Guerrero State, Mexico, within the Guerrero Gold Belt.
- Polymetallic deposits containing zinc, copper, gold, silver, and lead.
- Spanning over 121 square kilometers of highly prospective land.
- Historical production from five deposits: G9, El Largo, Reforma, Naranjo, and El Rey.
2025 Exploration Program Details
- Underground Drilling: Initial phase includes up to 5,000 meters of underground diamond drilling across 25 holes, focused on underexplored zones near existing production areas and previously untested zones with high potential for new resource discovery.
- Surface Exploration: Surface drilling to begin later this quarter, targeting concessions outside current mine workings to unlock district-scale mineralization potential.
The project builds on extensive historical data, including over 600,000 meters of drilling and comprehensive geophysical and geochemical studies, which have identified more than 38 exploration targets.
Paul Gray, VP Exploration, commented, "Like many established VMS systems around the world, Campo Morado has significant growth potential, and I am excited to be embarking on these first exploration efforts on the property in many years. My aim for this, and all future drill programs, is to identify additional near-mine mineralization that can be quickly added to the mine plan at Campo Morado; leverage the extensive historical data and generate new information through drilling and other exploration tools to extend the mine life and expand resources, and; eventually, demonstrate the true district-scale potential at Campo Morado by targeting high-impact exploration zones further from the mine site."
Aiming to expand mineral resources, extend mine life, and unlock the district-scale potential of the property, this milestone signals a pivotal moment for LUCA as it seeks to bolster resources and establish Campo Morado’s long-term viability.
