RE:RE:InsightIt is unlikely that Trump will apply tariffs to oil imports from Canada if his intention is to bring down oil prices. Midwestern and golf coast refineries are configured to process 4 million barrels a day of heavy oil coming from Alberta oil sands and a well established head to toe system has been developed over the years. This is not likely to change and tariffs would damage this arrangement significantly affecting the US as well as Canada. However, Canada would be wise to develop new distribution routes and diversify its clientel.
