RE:RE:IF ELECTED, FREELAND TO SCRAP CAPITAL GAIN TAX INCREASELevieillard - This taxation debate could go on for years, that's also why it's always been debated... lol.. but let me put it this way...
Forget rich and poor, and assume 2 indivuals who have the same jobs and salaries, one spend 5k on a trip to some beach resort during the winter, while the other decides to invest that 5k, in a non rrsp account. Don't forget, they both paid taxex on their salaries
Why do the 2nd guy have to pay tax again, if he ends up making a good investmen? (i'm just looking at the commen sense fairness of this situation, not the tax laws of things)
After 20 years of doing that, the 2nd guy might now be considered rich compared to the first one, but it's because of choices they made, not an unfair situation to begin with.
Things might always look unfair, depends on which side of the fence you are. (I do know some people are filthy rich and taxation seem to be set in order to only benefit some part of society.)
Middle class, or what isn't poor or very rich, will always feel like they are being somehow mistreated... poor gets 'free stuff' while the rich aren't being taxed at same level they are i.e. your capital gains thing)
Levieillard wrote: Did you ever ask yourself why poor people are taxed on 100% of their salary and rich people on 50% of their capital gains? You consider that normal?
You Liberals want the capital gain taxed at 100%, not 60.
