Trump Will Ensure that Cannabis Rescheduling Does Not HappenRegardless of Trump's perceived pro-cannabis position he will probably pressure the DEA to not reschedule cannabis.

A lot of what Trump 2.0 is doing now is in an effort to reverse all of Biden's initiatives and accomplishments.  He wants to destroy Biden's legacy.  It was Biden's initiative to reschedule cannabis. 

It has been stated that the way rescheduling was advanced was an entirely political process.  Historically it has been the DEA administrator to sign off on drug scheduling moves, but in this case the cannabis proposed rule was signed by then-Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Both Derek Maltz and Jack Riley, another former DEA official who is being courted to potentially lead the DEA, subscibe to the "gateway drug" theory for marijuana.  Trump will never allow Biden to share the glory for cannabis re-scheduling, his ego can't handle it.  He would rather shutdown the whole rescheduling process.
