NEWSIntel(R) accepts Intrinsyc into the Intel Personal Internet Client Architecture (PCA) Developer Network
Expanding on a successful four-year relationship with Intrinsyc
INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN JOSE, CA, Aug. 29 /CNW/ - Intrinsyc Software
Inc., (TSE:ICS) today announced that it has been accepted into the Intel(R)
Personal Internet Client Architecture (PCA) Developer Network. This expands on
Intrinsyc's four-year working relationship with Intel and confirms Intrinsyc's
continued support for the Intel StrongARM(TM) family of microprocessors.
Membership in the Intel PCA Developer Network gives Intrinsyc enhanced access
to a broad range of new Intel chip technologies and development resources,
allowing the Company to provide faster delivery and assured high quality
technology to customers who wish to use Intel chipsets along with Intrinsyc's
software based product offerings.
In the fall of 1997, Intrinsyc and Intel initiated their business
relationship via the incorporation of Intrinsyc's software technologies into
the Intel Embedded Pentium reference platform program. Today, Intrinsyc's
Cerf(TM) family of reference designs are based on Intel StrongARM technology,
and are distributed through a direct sales force, as well as channel partners
around the globe.
Intrinsyc recently released the Cerf(TM)PDA reference design,
complementing its existing Cerf(TM)Board, Cerf(TM)Pod and Cerf(TM)Cube
offerings. These compact, high-performance reference platforms come pre-loaded
with the customer's choice of Microsoft Windows CE or embedded Linux operating
systems and greatly accelerate their time-to-market for next-generation
embedded internet devices. These licensable reference designs are critical
components in Intrinsyc's Embedded-to-Enterprise(TM) strategy and total
solutions offering, and have proven to be very popular with customers in 2001.
"We continue to be impressed by the innovative reference design platforms
developed by Intrinsyc, which now includes the CerfPDA," said Ken Edwards,
product marketing for Intel's Handheld Computing Division. "Intrinsyc's
reference designs are a great example of the applicability of our chip
technologies, and we're delighted to work with them in their continued
development of current and next-generation reference designs."
"Since the introduction of the Intel StrongARM family, Intrinsyc has
worked closely with Intel to develop reference design platforms. The result
has been best-in-class, licensable reference design platforms that expedite
our customers' time to market," said Neil McDonnell, President and Chief
Executive Officer, Intrinsyc Software, Inc. "Our relationship with Intel will
strengthen, as we continue to incorporate their Intel(R) XScale(TM)
microarchitecture technology into our reference designs," added McDonnell.

About Intrinsyc's Cerf(TM) Family of Reference Designs
Intrinsyc's Cerf(TM) family of reference designs are compact, high-
performance reference platforms that come pre-loaded with Windows CE or Linux.
Powered by the Intel StrongARM 1110 processor and future XScale
microarchitecture technology, they provide customers a significant head start
on developing headless Internet devices or appliances.
Intrinsyc's newest reference design, the Cerf(TM)PDA is one of the most
comprehensive all-in-one solutions for hand-held applications such as
specialized consumer applications, test and measurement, and data collection.
It delivers a complete, packaged solution, which includes a 3.8" color touch-
screen, 64 MB SDRAM, 32MB Flash, PCMCIA, an expansion port, and off-the-shelf
embedded tools. Communications and networking options include PCMCIA/Compact
Flash boards, Super I/O, CDPD, 802.11b, LAN, USB ports, GPS OEM modules,
custom keypads and proprietary software.
Intrinsyc's Cerf(TM)Pod is an ideal starting point for designing in-
vehicle computers, web tablets and point-of-sale devices. It delivers a
complete, packaged solution, which includes a 5.7" display, off-the-shelf
embedded tools, an ergonomic design, technical support, and multiple
configuration options.
The Cerf(TM)Cube is useful for server applications, data collection
devices and office and building automation products. It can also be used to
simulate Internet-enabled existing systems, and develop and test embedded
Windows applications.
