Since we are not of those "three", we don't know for sure. But shorting at these price levels is very risky. Many in fact, simply won't short stocks below $2. All it takes is one aggressive company to make a purchase offer, and those that are short are in trouble.
Also, we don't know what their positions were previously.
It is also difficult to short because of the uptick rule. So someone somewhere must be buying to allow for shorts to come in, if they are coming in. But as we see from the prices today, the price movement is down $0.25.
In addition, at some point, the shorts have to purchase their shares back, unless they are confident that the stock is going to zero. My guess is that some company somewhere will step in long before that happens.
So while I could be wrong, I don't think there are a lot of shorts at these price levels.
