St. John's had 21 aircraft. Gander had 38 which was second in the country only to Halifax which had 47. Stephenville had 8 because the weather was down. Toronto had lots of room at the airport but nowhere to put the people, ( all hotels were full) . Funny about that since Gander accommodated about 6500 people and only has a population of 12,000-13,000.
