My contact at Husky still believes negotiations are on-going. He speculates that the announcement about talks were on hold may have had to do with the First Nations MOU that Husky announced - his rationale being that the native signatories didn't want to be perceived as having inked a deal with a company that was going to be whacked my a foreign oil company within the next little while. So Lau made the announcement for cosmetic reasons so as to smooth the waters with the First Nations. Sounds a bit suspect to me, but it's a theory anyway. smarmy
