from the CBC Website...

from the CBC Website...Found this on www.cbc.ca - local Newfoundland link... For what it's worth, the poorest excuse of a publiclly owned broadcaster can't even name the company involved! Now, if Port au Port was in downtown Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal, you can bet that the CBC would have top of the line coverage. CIVC gets nod for Garden Hill development St. John's - A Newfoundland-based company has received approval from the provincial government to produce oil and gas on the Port au Port Peninsula. Canadian Imperial Venture Corporation is in the process of drilling a well on a property called the Garden Hill Prospect. It's the first time the provincial government has approved a plan to produce oil on land. CIVC chairman Steve Millan wouldn't give any clues as to how much oil and gas might be on the Port au Port Peninsula...he said that would only attract competitors. Millan predicted the Garden hill property on the Port au Port would be producing within a year. He said his company is also bringing in another rig to explore the Harry's River area, near Stephenville.
