Interesting article in local paperOn the front page of the business section in today's Kelowna Daily Courier is a half page article detailing some of Fipke's professional and personal life. I found the article within the article with the heading 'He's still prospecting...' the most enlightening.
Here is the bulk of the article:
While the Dia Met chapters are over in Chuck Fipke's life, the 53-year-old hasn't given up exploring.
"I'm looking for diamonds all over the place-...Africa, South America, Canada. You'll understand if I don't broadcast exactly where I'm working."
Fipke estimates he spends half his time in Kelowna; the rest abroad prospecting for diamonds and gold.
"I just got back from a month in the Middle East."
Fipke is chairman of Cantex Mine Development (renamed Outlook Resources) which is looking for gold in Yemen.
"We've found some nickel, copper, platinum and gold mines in Yemen that date back to 1000 BC, but they are more important as historical finds than commercial mines."
Two gold deposits have also been found that might become mines, but Cantex is holding off developing them until the price of gold rises.
Cantex shares which trade on the Canadian Venture Exchange, aren't causing a Dia Met-like sensation. Stock is changing hands at a near-all-time low of six cents.
Fipke also heads the CF Mineral Research laboratory in Kelowna that examines finds from his exploration and that of other companies.
End of article.
Us longs have a long wait ahead of us to recoup our monies, me thinks.
