RE: Excellent posts IdleJet,
Van's title to this thread was a reference to a later post than the one about Skylink,?
Re Skylink, I think it is great news, but for it to have meaning, you need to have an idea of how much it is worth to the company. We have recently had NR's on deals worth $5,000 per month, which compared to the amount SCS needs to 'break even' is insignificant.
In fact SCS's entire income is very small, my local newsagent probably turns over more than they do, and they don't have $40 million shares out there. In fact come to think of it they have only recently began clearing more than my company, which is one man working out of a bedroom in a small rented flat.
Nit picking on Skylink, you are right, no-one knows how much Skylink business will be transacted through SCS.
Are you suggesting it is invalid to try to put value on it? Is that not exactly what you do everytime yoyu buy stock, say you beleive the stock will rise in value, even though you don't know?
10% was a guestimate.
And I gave reasons why I did not htink it would be high.
If you think it might be 20% or 30%, I am sure you can multiply the figure I got by 2 or 3. 30% is interesting, that would have SCS breaking even.
However,
Last time people were estimating transaction volumes through SCS was prior to the launch of LL+. People were estimating 30% of total sales on consolidators taking up the product. Hundreds of thousands of tickets at $7 each, SCS was going to be earning several million dollars a year, within weeks. Then reality set in, LL+ was launched and they were doing 5-10 sales a day. This was with customers who did not have any other form of online booking engine.
Skylink already have a fully functional booking engine, internet based, (which I just checked and is not currently working, maybe they are backing up). This is their own, and SCS make no income from it.
The link through SCS enables them to reach travel agents that do not have internet access. On bookings through Solarnet, Skylink pay $5 to SCS. I suggested the number of Travel agents without internet access was falling, and that it would be in Skylinks interest to encourage Travel agents to use their Internet booking engine.
So, as you so despise anything that looks vaguely numerical, what's your take on SCS, Skylink, HH Jet? Or are you simply trying to hype the price so you can make a quick buck on your 8c shares?
