RE: NICE POST (sort of)

RE: NICE POST (sort of)Replying to Jet "To me it is not important wether SCS customers are connected to the internet or how fast their connection was or now is. Nor do I find it important that in the past SCS customers did not have any other form of online booking engine." Hmmm, you are generalising what I said Jet, In the case of trying to determine the value of Skylink becoming transactional I think that it is important that they already sell directly over the internet. In the case of SCS customers that do not have Internet booking engines, where LL+ is their only online booking system, I think it is relevant that during the first few months bookings were running at 5-10 per day, ie even with the consolidators pushing the system, travel agants were not picking up on it. Last time I called IR they would not give me an update on that figure other than 'it was picking up but still small'. "I may be wrong but what I find important is that SCS has made Consoliator fares available globally via the GDS's. Travel agents can access SCS either via the GDS/CRS or the internet or a combination of all 3." As far as you go I agree with you Jet, but SCS hardly make any money out of Solarnet. With all the customers they currently have, they are making a net profit of around $35,000 per month, they need at least around 4 times this (in my calcs) to break even. That's a hell of a lot more Solarnet customers. SCS's success to date is signing up so many companies to a product they find genuinely useful. The next step is to find a way of making a profitable business. Under Larry they didn't think they could do this and virtually abandoned this goal and focussed on Tourtek instead. IMO if they can deliver a realtime booking engine (Airtek/Blackbird as opposed to LL+), they already have the customers signed up and the Travel agents on line, they/we could make huge sums. A live live Airtek however will be months away from any announcement. With current financial, the comapany does not seem to have months without raising more cash. Skylink has shown it is possible, well they will when they go live. Can SCS write an engine? I hope so, Idle
