Nokia Exceeded its profit forecasts

Nokia Exceeded its profit forecastsNokia, the world’s largest manufacturer of mobile phone handsets, released its fourth quarter figures on Thursday morning amidst widespread concern about a downturn in the mobile phones sector. In contrast to the gloomy picture presented a few days earlier by Motorola, Nokia announced that it had exceeded its profit forecasts and had made significant gains in market share in the mobile phone sector. Chairman and CEO Jorma Ollila forecasts sales growth of 10-15% in the current year. The market responded with relief at the news, and in early trading in Helsinki Nokia's stock had gained around 8%.
