CAE announces C$18 million in new business
TORONTO, Feb. 4 /CNW/ - (TSE: CAE - news) CAE today announced C$18 million in new business
with two customers, WestJet and Bombardier.
WestJet has agreed to purchase a Boeing B737-700 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) equipped with a CAE
Maxvue(TM) visual system. The simulator, valued at approximately C$15 million, will be installed at
WestJet's training facility in Calgary at the end of 2003. The state-of-the-art FFS will be certified to
meet the FAA Level D standard, the highest in Full Flight Simulator equipment.
WestJet pilots already train on a CAE Boeing 737-700 simulator. WestJet operates 27 aircraft and has
an additional 32 Boeing 737 aircraft on order, with purchase rights on an additional 58 Boeing 737
aircraft. The Calgary based airline serves 20 Canadian cities.
Bombardier Aerospace has awarded CAE a C$3-million upgrade contract. CAE will develop a
simulation package for the Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft and will upgrade four Bombardier CRJ700
simulation devices (a full flight simulator, a flight training device and two system trainers) to be fully
convertible to CRJ900. The first device will be ready for Bombardier CRJ900 training in July 2002.
