RE: fOR THOSE WHO ASKED

RE: fOR THOSE WHO ASKEDOK, some further dissection is still required. SMY is forging ahead with BTG based on their joint ability to supply tag and reader. The alliance with IP remains in the balance because of their additional strategic alliance with Micromem who provide a magnetic memory chip that may cut production costs further. Following Pygg's rationale, is IP attempting to establish an industry standard using the Micromem chip technology (i.e. avoiding the Windows analogy) or is the delay in launching RFID merely a reflection of economic conditions, unfulfilled pilot testing requirements or reluctance to accept? If RFID is such a cost saving measure, then why are the larger companies such as P&G and Walmart not scaling up sooner? I'm encouraged to see SMY developing its own business model but I'm puzzled over the delay in the IP alliance. Anyone care to provide their reasoning. Thanks, Canuck.
