Kelly Edmison reports DEVON APPOINTS MARK SAMPSON AS VP - CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT Devon Ventures has appointed Mark Sampson to the position of vice-president, corporate development. In this role he will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities for Devon in the telecommunications industry. Mr. Sampson will be working with Devon on a part-time basis. Mr. Sampson has held a number of senior management positions in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. He has served as chairman and chief executive officer of NxGen Networks, senior vice-president and general manager, data services, of AT & T Canada Inc., vice-president and general manager of B.C. Tel Advanced Communications, and chief operating officer at CUE Data West. Mr. Sampson has agreed to invest $25,000 in Devon through a non-brokered private placement of 166,666 units at a price of 15 cents per share. Each unit will consist of one common share and one warrant. Each warrant will entitle Mr. Sampson to purchase one additional common share on or before March 8, 2004. The net proceeds of this private placement will be added to the company's current working capital. The private placement is subject to approval of the Canadian Venture Exchange.
