ZENON's industrial division secures largest wastewater treatment contract
OAKVILLE, ON, April 29 /CNW/ - ZENON Environmental (TSE: ZEN and ZEN.A), a global leader in membrane-based water treatment, will supply its proprietary ZeeWeed(R) technology to filter wastewater in a potato processing facility in Blackfoot, Idaho. The contract, valued in excess of $8 million, will provide the processing facility with extremely high quality treated wastewater that can be safely discharged back into the environment.
"This order is a strong indication of ZENON's ability to meet the increasing stringent specifications of the food processing industry," stated Andrew Benedek, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ZENON. "As standards are further tightened with respect to the treatment of industrial wastewater, our technology is being relied on more and more to bring businesses in line to meet and exceed water quality standards."
Basic American Foods(R), the pioneer that perfected potato dehydration, is leading the way in this regard as the first in the industry to use the ZenoGem(R) membrane bioreactor. ZENON's technology provides a cost competitive product that also yields the highest quality water.
ZENON's industrial business is on the rise and the company expects to see continuing growth in this market sector, according to Mr. Benedek.
Work on the new plant is already underway and is expected to be complete in the spring of 2003.
