Toronto, May 8, 2002 (TSE:CAE) - CAE today announced that it will provide aviation training services to three new customers: Horizon Air, Aerolineas Argentinas, and the US Navy Reserves. The total value of the contracts is approximately C$35 million.
In support of Bombardier’s CRJ aircraft program, CAE will provide pilot training to Horizon Air’s CRJ700 pilots for the next 14 years. Horizon Air’s pilots have already begun training on a CAE-built CRJ700 full flight simulator installed in Alaska Airlines’ training centre in Seattle, Washington. Seattle-based Horizon Air is the eighth largest regional airline in the United States.
CAE South America Training Center has signed a contract with Aerolineas Argentinas for Airbus A340 full flight simulator training. The airline’s pilots started training on the CAE simulator in March 2002.
The United States Navy Reserves have selected CAE’s Dallas Training Center for the training of its C-40 Navy aviators. Starting in May 2002, CAE will provide them with initial and recurrent pilot ground-school and simulator training on a Boeing 737NG simulator. The C-40 airlift transport aircraft is similar to the Boeing 737 convertible/combi aircraft. The contract was signed with the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division.
With a network of aviation training centres strategically located around the world, CAE is the world’s second largest independent aviation training provider. The company will have an installed base of 75 full flight simulators by the end of calendar 2002.
