C$33 Million Sale of Support Equipment to Albian Sands 5/7/02 FINNING INTERNATIONAL INC ("FTT-T;FINGF-L0") - C$33 Million Sale of Support Equipment to Albian Sands - Energy Inc. Finning International Inc. announced that it has secured a contract with Albian Sands Energy Inc. to deliver 28 pieces of new Caterpillar support equipment over the next 18 months, an agreement valued at C$33 million. Doug Whitehead, President and Chief Executive Officer of Finning International Inc. noted: "The Oil Sands continues to represent a tremendous growth opportunity for Finning. Commenting on the agreement, Ian Reid, President and Chief Operating Officer for Finning (Canada) said: "This latest agreement represents a fleet of support equipment which will work along side the fleet of 23 Caterpillar 797 haul trucks at the Albian Sands Muskeg River Mine. Our Fort McMurray team is growing to support the increased demand and is focused on driving customer satisfaction to build upon a successful history in Alberta's Oil Sands development." The Athabasca Oil Sands contain vast oil reserves, of which approximately 300 billion barrels are recoverable using current technology. The industry has announced more than C$50 billion of new investment for oil sands projects since 1996. If all planned investment proceeds, oil sands production could approach 2 million barrels per day over the next 10 years.
