RE: Sudbury Geology

RE: Sudbury GeologyThanks, Bob, the link worked for me, and I recommend anyone who wants to learn a little more about Sudbury geology to take the time to read it. There used to be a real good geology map put out by the Ontario Gov. that showed just the Sudbury area. Anybody know how to get one? I am sure that Bob and Rock Jock are both know more geology than I. I accept that the layered intrusion is older than the Sudbury event as Bob said, which means it was already there before the meteor. I accept that the layered intrusion of RV is more closely related to the Bushveld than to Sudbury geology as Rock jock says. However, being an oldtimer, I remember when the offset dikes did not stretch too far from the edge of the basin, and nobody talked about concentric dikes. Now the length of the dikes have been extended and I remember that Champion Bear, north of Cartier had spoken about a concentric dike in that area about a year ago. The layered intrusion of RV (which does contain breccia), would have planes of weakness along the layering, would it not? Is everyone sure that there is not a concentric dike in the RV area, that could be a source for higher grades?
