The Indefatigable gas field, 113km north east of Lowestoft, was
discovered in June 1966. There are three fields - south west,
west and east. The south west and west are operated by BP
Amoco and the east is operated by Shell.
Gas is exported by pipeline to BP Amoco-operated Leman 'B'
platform then to BP Amoco-operated terminal at Bacton, Norfolk.
Indefatigable east has 49.54-bil cu m a recoverable gas
reserves and 0.38-mil cu m of recoverable NGLs. Production
started in October 1971. Shell UK and Esso Exploration and
Production UK had equal 50% interests in the block as of end
2000, according to DTI statistics.
Indefatigable west was discovered in June 1966 and production
started in October 1971. Indefatigable SW was discovered in
June 1967 and production started in October 1989. The fields
have estimated recoverable gas reserves of 85.31-bil cu m.
At end of 2000, DTI statistics showed the following licensee and
company interests in the block: Amoco UK Petroleum (31%), BG
International (31%), Amerada Hess (23%) and Enterprise Oil
(15%).
