Kemet loses tantalum dispute with Cabot Capacitor supplier Kemet Corp., Greenville, S.C., lost its court case against Cabot Corp., the Boston-based tantalum powder supplier that filed suit against Kemet in April....... A Kemet spokesman told EBN the company will likely look harder at alternative sources of tantalum powder, despite the fact that Cabot controls roughly half of the tantalum powder market......... Kemet is one of three major passive suppliers that have in the past year engaged in disputes with Cabot over terms of their tantalum supply agreements. AVX Corp., Myrtle Beach, S.C., filed suit against Cabot in late July, while Vishay Intertechnology Inc., Malvern, Pa., resolved its dispute with Cabot in early June.
