RE: Forget Patheo, because....

RE: Forget Patheo, because....Got an update re Patheo, here is my understanding for those that are interested. Patheo are linking directly into Sabre Rate manager, SCS not involved in that link or any income stream generated from it. So when the whole thing goes live there will be 3 sources of consolidators in Sabre rate Manager. 1) Farelogix who was one of Sabres own. 2) Patheo, who have several consolidators that use their software (Faremate 2000 I think), which already does web booking. 3) SCS who hav asmall number of large consolidators on Solarnet The good news is; Only the last two have the ability to link and distribte consolidator information through other GDS's, can't see another GDS letting Sabre distribute Farlogix inventory to their TA's! The really nice part, for a consolidator to go through Patheo they have to migrate to Faremate 2000 or whatever their software package is. That's a bit like SCS saying they can only load consolidators that run on Tourtek. You have seen how easy a sell like that is :0), this time that difficulty is in our favour. SCS obviously don't make such demands, in fact they have a histroy of writing interfaces to different systems of several consolidators. So it looks like a no brainer when it comes to new consolidators looking for a way to get onto Sabre rate manager and whatever equivalent systems other GDS's create. Anyway, I guess that is one of the reasons RR chose to jump to SCS. Although SCS can provide the GDS connectivity to other companies hosting web based consolidator information and give them access to Sabre Rate manager, the real name of this game is future is to grab as many consolidators as customers as soon as possible. Every 3rd party that SCS hiost is potentially another competitor like patheo, if SCS profit margins are large enough to make it worthwhile going direct to the GDS they eventaully will, imo So, having had that question answered, I am smiling almost as much as when I read flatbroke213's last post, which was to funny by half, thanks Idle
