COME HELP US SAY BON VOYAGE!!!!!!
OAKVILLE, ON, Nov. 15 /CNW/ - On Thursday, November 21, 2002 employees of ZENON Environmental, a global leader in membrane based technologies for water treatment, will host a reception to thank all those who have volunteered their time and/or resources to help build and send a drinking water system to a community in Hue City, in the People's Republic of Vietnam.
There will be a live demonstration of the unit to be shipped with employees on hand who will explain how ZENON's technology is helping a community desperately in need of clean potable water.
ZENON employees founded "Water for Humanity" in 1999 as a way of showing their commitment to support the world's need for clean, safe water in regions that cannot supply water for themselves. The first project was the donation of a drinking water system to a First Nations community in Temagami, Ontario (Bear Island) that had been experiencing significant problems with parasite contamination in their source water.
With the help of ZENON's private partners/vendors, the community of Quang Dien District in the Hue City area of Vietnam will receive a newly built drinking water treatment plant that will produce up to 70,000 gallons of water per day (value greater than $200k). The World Health Organization has identified significant health issues in the community that have been attributed to poor water quality: eye disease 27%, diarrhea 31% and dysentery 15%.
