RE: billywild
RE: billywildTT also has a web front end, both are developed in Oracle.
CUstomers obviously want their web site to be a little individual, this aspect is largely cosmetic, but important to the custmoer.
Also say the customer books trips to disney, and disney have their own booking system, then when you book the deal on TT, it books the flights and creates the PNR, makes the reservation request with disney and if you are staying with a mom and pop hotel rather than a chain, can send them an email.
Some of those links are customisation But the basic engine, ie the majority of the code, is generic.
Oh, and customisation is a chargable item, so what's the problem. There are few database applications as generic as you WP, spreadsheet, or personal tax return software. Big databases always need tailoring to customer a little, as long as the customisation is well separated from the core code, this has minimal effect on upgrades and maintenance most of the time.
I have worked with Banking and Personnel systems, no two installations are the same.
