IRD Expands International Business with Award of 17 Slow Speed Weigh-In-Motion (SSWIM) Systems in Pakistan SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--International Road Dynamics Inc. (IRD) announced today that it has been awarded a contract valued at CDN $500,000 by National Engineers, its exclusive distributor in the Country of Pakistan, to supply 17 SSWIM systems to the National Highways Authority (NHA). This is a repeat order with the highway authorities and follows previous contracts where IRD supplied 12 high speed and 10 slow speed Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) systems in the years 1997 and 2002 respectively. Under the contract IRD supplies the systems and National Engineers completes all the in-country installation and on-going service. The IRD-SSWIM systems will be installed on the N5 National Highway to provide a quick and efficient way to check trucks for weight compliance. The SSWIM scales provide a check of axle, axle group, axle spacing and bridge formula compliance while the truck crosses the scale at speeds of up to 8 MPH (13 KPH). The IRD-SSWIM technology is used worldwide by weight enforcement agencies, including systems used at the southern U.S. border crossings. The SSWIM is an efficient, cost-effective tool to ensure truck and axle weight compliance. The IRD-SSWIM scales are also used in freight loading terminals and other truck staging and loading areas.
