News about NanoBusiness AllianceGot this email from Greg Kraft. Very interesting. Please read on...
"Those countries that master the process of nanoscale manufacturing and engineering will have a huge job boom over the next 20 years, just like aviation and computing companies in the last 40 years, and just as railroad, steam engine and textile companies were decisive in the 19th century. Nanoscale science will give us not dozens, not scores, not hundreds, but thousands of new capabilities in biology, physics, chemistry and computing."
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich
Hon. Chairman of the NanoBusiness Alliance
Nanotechnology is rapidly becoming the Industrial Revolution of 21st century. Nanotechnology is the ability to do things - measure, see, predict and make - on the scale of atoms and molecules. The importance of nanotechnology cannot be overstated. It will affect almost every aspect of our lives, from the medicines we use, to the power of our computers, the energy supplies we require, the food we eat, the cars we drive, the buildings we live in and the clothes we wear. More importantly, for every area where we can imagine an impact, there will be others no one has thought of -- new capabilities, new products, and new markets. In the long term, nanotech’s impact will be as significant as the steam engine, the harnessing of electricity, and the transistor.
The U.S. government conservatively predicts a $1 trillion global market for nanotechnology in little over a decade. Nearly every Fortune 500 company has launched - or is preparing to launch - nanotechnology R&D and investment programs. The number of nanotech start-ups in the U.S. has doubled over the past year to over 1,2000 and is expected to double again in 2003. And unlike the many waves of technological development over the past seventy-five years, nanotechnology is not dominated by the United States. Japan, China, the EU, Switzerland, Russia, South Korea, Canada, Australia, and others are all significant players in the nanotech field. Nanotechnology is rapidly becoming the engine that will drive business expansion and regional development.
