you are RIGHT kckendal, and so far, hpdi=nothing! This whole deal had NOTHING to do with C engines, although many people who didnt understand that SUBSTANTIALLY ALL R&D WAS ON ACCOUNT OF HPDI!!!
And guess whAT? So far FORD has bailed on wpt (yes, even after the excellent trails and write up). Its just too much of a stretch to excpet anyone in North America to shell out 25K for an injector never mind for a Chinese of Egyptian or Indian to spend that kind of money, especially when they DONT HAVE TO.
If its cleaner air you want, there are cheap alternatives. Cleaner diesel. Look no further. Yoiu dont need to split the atom to deliver a sack of mexican field tomatoes to Kamloops.
Heres a prediction: THERE NEVER WILL BE ANY HPDI SALES. WACTH AS WPT SLOWING LEADS INVESTORS INTO THINKING THEY HAVE ANTHER BE-ALL AND END-ALL SOLUTION. NG-HYDROGEN HYBRID. YUP, WITH SALES PROJECTED SOME 5 YRS DOWN THE ROAD, NO ONE WILL EXPECT SALES AND BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO FEED CASH FUEL TO THE INSIDERS WHO ARE EAGERLY AWAITING TO LINE THEIR OWN POCKETS.
but my guess is no one will really fall for it this time. investors are not as doe eyed as they once were. I thing wpt will wind up sometime early in 2004 or late this yr.
