New Shoshoni Ventures ships DB-02 core for anNew Shoshoni Ventures ships DB-02 core for analysis New Shoshoni Ventures Ltd NSV Shares issued 7,842,808 Mar 31 2003 close $ 0.37 Tuesday April 1 2003 News Release Mr. Ralf Hillebrand reports New Shoshoni Ventures has shipped core from its recently discovered kimberlite pipe (DB-02) to CF Mineral Research Ltd. for analysis. The company selected C.F. Mineral Research to process this core due the high-quality control standards set at C.F., resulting in a high level of confidence in the results obtained. C.F. will process the core samples using standard laboratory techniques to liberate the various diamond indicator minerals and any diamonds present in the core. Kimberlite indicator minerals are hand-picked and sorted by highly trained mineral sorters using binocular microscopes. Selected grains are then tested by electron microprobe chemical analysis to determine the grains' kimberlitic affiliations. KIMs such as picro-ilmenites, eclogitic garnets, chrome pyrope garnets (G9 and G10 garnets), cromites and chrome diopsides will be separated out and analyzed. Analysis of these KIMs is an important element of diamond exploration since these elements are more abundant in a prospective kimberlite than diamonds, and are an important tool in determining the diamond potential of the kimberlite host. For microdiamond extraction and analysis, the core samples are crushed to minus 0.5 inch and are then fused with sodium hydroxide for approximately 24 hours. The resulting caustic fusion melt is poured hot through a very fine mesh screen to collect a crude diamond residue which is then cleaned and sieved to provide diamond grains at various mesh sizes. The resulting grains are then examined under a binocular microscope by the qualified person. Results from these laboratory analyses will allow the company to further assess the potential for the DB-02 kimberlite to host diamonds. Results will be announced as they are received by the company.
