Wallbridge Resumes Windy Lake Drilling, Announces Exploration Plans on Other Properties
Thursday July 10, 9:59 am ET
TORONTO, July 10 /CNW/ - Wallbridge Mining Company Limited (TSX:WM - News) today announced that it has resumed drilling on its Windy Lake property. The new hole WWL-021 is a 400 metre step out from holes WWL-009 and WWL-009B, which discovered nickel-copper mineralization within an embayment under Windy Lake.
"We are encouraged by results to date," reports Alar Soever, President of Wallbridge. "Holes WWL-009 and WWL-009B confirm we have a mineralized embayment. The mineralization we intersected in hole WWL-009B occurs within the sublayer, above the contact, and is similar in nickel content to the sublayer mineralization adjacent to some of the known deposits at Levack. Everything we have seen suggests to us we have the ideal environment for a nickel-copper deposit under the southern part of Windy Lake."
Hole WWL-021 is targeted about 400 metres southwest of holes WWL-009 and WWL-009B. The target area is on the southerly down-dip trend of the off-hole component of the geophysical response in hole WWL-009B, as well as the thickening of the breccia beneath the sublayer in that direction. To date, there are no drill holes that penetrate the contact south of holes WWL-009 and WWL-009B, which defined the northern edge of the mineralized embayment under Windy Lake.
Wallbridge is also active on a number of other properties.
The summer work program on the Company's other Sudbury area properties is also underway, with drilling on the Milnet Property expected to be initiated late this week. Detailed mapping and trenching is currently underway at Milnet, and will later be also conducted on the Manchester and Worthington properties.
Exploration of the Windy Lake and other Sudbury area properties is funded by Lonmin Plc on behalf of the Sudbury Camp Joint Venture.
On the Ben Nevis property, near Kirkland Lake, detailed IP surveying is planned to follow-up the results of hole WBN-003, which intersected 7.14 grams gold per tonne (0.21 ounces per ton) and 5.48% zinc over 3.0 metres, as announced in a press release on June 25, 2003. Drilling at Ben Nevis will resume later this summer, once the results of detailed mapping and the IP survey have been received.
"We look forward to a very active summer and fall," says Wallbridge Exploration Manager Richard Murphy. "Not only are we drilling at Windy Lake and Milnet, but by early fall we expect to have drills turning on several other properties including Ben Nevis."
