Globetechnology Article!!!

Globetechnology Article!!!Wow, it looks like I'm back for a while. Saw this article in the Globe and Mail today. It looks like IIT is finally being noticed!! Cheers, AR BREAKING NEWS POSTED AT 11:03 AM EDT Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 Tech Home | eInsider | Reviews | @Play | Today's Paper | Investor 01 Communique revamps I'm InTouch Globe and Mail Update TORONTO — 01 Communique Laboratory Inc., a remote access solutions provider, has released I'm InTouch Version 3.3. By incorporating the company's screen sharing technology, version 3.3 has significant speed and performance improvements resulting in faster viewing and control of a distant PC's desktop by simply logging in through the web browser of any available computer, the company said. I'm InTouch has PC to PC remote control enhancements and the option to use a wireless device to gain access to a PC's e-mail and files. 01 Communique said it is designed to meet the needs of business people "on the go" who require easy access to a variety of distant information. Users can use a home computer to work on any file at the office when the need arises, along with a wireless laptop or cellphone to stay on top of new e-mails arriving at their desktop PC. For example, the company said I'm InTouch allows a small or medium sized business to provide the flexibility for any of their employees to be able to manage e-mail and complete work assignments from the convenience of their home computer, an available computer at a customer's site, a hotel business centre or Internet cafe. Existing laptop users can avoid some of the current hassles of having to lug a laptop home or through airport security checks by using their home computer or a wireless PDA to stay on top of their e-mail while away from the office. The I'm InTouch remote access program is installed on the PC that the user wants to access. Being a secure Web-based service, I'm InTouch eliminates the traditional need for client software to be installed on the remote access device. Once installed, any other computer on the Internet can be used to securely login and remotely control the PC running I'm InTouch. As well, a login from a wireless PDA or cellphone with Internet access supports viewing of e-mail, files, calendar and contact info, with I'm InTouch rendering the information so that it can be easily read and managed from the screen and keyboard of the device. I'm In Touch's unique integration with the host PC's desktop e-mail client, allows notification of new e-mail being received at the desktop to be sent to a wireless device so that the user may login and respond immediately. This approach means that all remote actions are processed and synchronized by the desktop computer running I'm InTouch regardless of the remote device used, 01 Communique said. In essence the remote device becomes the active controller of the computer. The I'm InTouch service is highly secure and installs with preconfigured security controls including Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128 bit encryption, currently used in on-line banking applications. This provides for secure data transport. As well, remote login authentication requires three levels of user-defined inputs. Passwords are stored on the user's computer running I'm InTouch.
