Mr. W. Douglas Eaton reports
PIKE DRILLING BEGINS
Diamond drilling is about to begin at the company's wholly owned Pike property in central Yukon. The drill sites have all been built and drill mobilization is under way.
Drilling will test beneath talus for the source of quartz vein fragments that contain coarse visible gold. The mineralized fragments range from less than a centimetre to 20 centimetres in diameter. They often contain between 10 and 30 per cent gold. Although this type of material is not routinely assayed, the visually estimated grade of a typical gold rich specimen was confirmed by an assay that yielded 71,266 grams per tonne gold (2,078.6 ounces per ton).
The apparent source for the gold rich material approximately coincides with a series of north-trending linear geophysical anomalies (magnetics, VLF and chargeability). Some gold-bearing quartz is attached to brecciated wallrock and this, coupled with the geophysical results and nearby geological mapping, suggests the mineralized veins occur within a fault or fracture zone.
Assays are expected in three to four weeks.
