IBR - TRADE MISSION TO MEXICO

IBR - TRADE MISSION TO MEXICOOT: INTERNATIONAL BIO RECOVERY CORPORATION REPORTS ON TRADE MISSION TO MEXICO 09:18 EDT Thursday, October 09, 2003 North Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, October 09, 2003 /FSC/ - International Bio Recovery Corp (IBR - TSX Venture), ("IBR") an environmental biotech company with a proprietary technology to convert organic waste into environmentally progressive fertility products, today announced highlights from its participation in an Industry Canada trade mission to Mexico. IBR was one of 25 Canadian environmental technology companies invited to participate in the trade mission, which took place in September 2003. The trade mission, which coincided with Enviro-Pro, Mexico's largest environmental trade show, provided Industry Canada with an opportunity to showcase some of Canada's leading environmental technology companies and to introduce their applications to the Mexican market. As a result, IBR had an opportunity to present its proprietary technology to both decision-makers in government and potential strategic partners. With large and growing urban populations in cities such as Mexico City, environmental issues related to the disposal of organic and sewage wastes are rising to the forefront of political agendas. While the cities have well-developed collection systems, including the recycling of non-organics, currently the primary method for disposal is the use of landfills. Mexico City adds over 11,500 tonnes per day of waste to their landfills, 60% of which is organic waste. With the remaining life on existing landfills limited, and with the social and political resistance to building new sites, there is strong technical, economic and political incentive to find replacement solutions that are economically and environmentally sustainable. During the course of the trade mission, IBR presented its advanced EATAD technology system, used to process organic and sewage waste materials into its Genica suite of fertilizer products. From this process, IBR earns revenue from two primary sources: 1) licensing its technology for use in waste processing plants, and 2) royalties earned from the sale of fertilizer products produced by plants that license IBR's technology. For its cities and municipalities, IBR's EATAD process enables them to generate front-end revenue from the collection of organic waste (tipping fees), as well as sharing back-end revenue from the sale of Genica products. The EATAD technology is unique in its ability to; process mixed organic waste from a variety of sources; deliver waste to end-product in rapid time; completely kill all pathogens; and, consistently manufacture uniform, high-quality end-products. Similarly, IBR's Genica fertilizer products have been independently tested and are proven to offer a number of benefits over conventional chemical fertilizers. Due to their complex organic composition, Genica products help to restore soil fertility, increase crop yields, deliver greater crop consistency and protect plants against disease. These products are easy to use and come in both liquid and pellet form. IBR continues to build its pipeline of opportunities. The Company will further drive sales of both its EATAD technology and the Genica fertilizer products produced using the system, with the following four-pronged growth strategy: * Increase direct sales efforts for technology license sales * Build strong third-party partnerships to support direct sales efforts * Establish a global marketing organization for the Genica products * Pursue additional field trials to further demonstrate Genica product value.
