stupid newbie question

Hi, I have shares in granville pacific corp (GE- TSX-V). I'm kkind of new to trading but i have some questions about this stock and stocks in general. Sorry if they're real basic simple answers. In one day my GE shares went up from .05 to .13. I Could'nt find any news articles or other information as to why my stock has gone up so much in value in such a short period. Could anyone shed light on this?? Also, when the stock went up none traded. Wouldn't the level of activity increase after a spike like this? GE is a corporation that provides assisted living care to the elderly. i thought it looked like a good choice. any insights?? Thanks John
