Instead, after an exhaustive and very costly investigation into the cause of the crash, millions of dollars were spent on modifications to the Concorde. Sometimes, a single event can be very significant.
If you don't like the Concorde example, how about the SwissAir MD-11 that crashed into Peggy's Cove. Again, an isolated incident, but very significant to ALL aircraft flying today (flammable insolation materials have to be removed from all aircraft), and VERY significant to SwissAir.
