a balanced view of SAS
a balanced view of SASfolks and fellow SAS shareholders;
I just got into SAS, but before jumping in I did a lot of dd. Specifically ravaged through the material on the sedar site. No huff, no puff. Lots of straight mining engineering stuff. Look for yourself and you will note a 220 page report that has been quoted in the last news release (actually the release updates the report and points to other reports that they have just issued).
I am specifically referring to the report prepared by RPA dated September 24, 2003. I suggest that whoever wants to do a thorought job it may be a good idea to review this and leave the chestpuffing and cheerleading and or fearmongering to others.
What I was able to glean was:
1. large number of targets that have a reasonable chance to move to a mine within the next year (ie., by this time next year);
2. No huge elephant mine, but many possibilities of 5 to 6 years reserve producing in the order of 100,000 oz / year
3. reasonable costs of mining in well known areas
4. closest prospects are the mine in the Timmins area (Stock) and the mine in Alaska
Anyways, I encourage you to look at the materials. I think that this has a very good change of turning out at least one small mine in the foreseeable future. I came to this conclusion based on the expert opinions presented by RPA who are using deemed experts in this field.
As for investing in these types of stocks, I am reassured that it is listed on the TSE and not the other exchange. So Sprott is involved, big deal. One has to differentiate between a corporate account and purchases on behalf of either account holders or of fund holders. Therefore I am not concerned. Can I be wrong? Absolutely, therefore I encourage you to do your own due dilignece and make an informed decision, but one word of caution - if you own your home do you go out and sell your house as soon as you see the real estate market go down a bit or are you there for the long term? Exaclty, therefore dont look at this every 2 seconds otherwise you will both go blind and lose your money. Take a longer term view of this.
I obviously cant comment on the recent posts about moving to other gold stocks, but having just come from CBJ I can relate to that.
I'm not a know it all, but thought that I would share my thoughts on this, which may be biased given that I own shares.
good luck and wise investing to all.
