Tantalum RecoveryYvonne Ball from the Australian Financial Review yesterday wrote Gwalia Expects Tantalum Recovery Sons of Gwalia expects to finalise long-term contract negotiations with customers Cabot Corp and HC Starck by mid-year, as indicators point to a recovery in the tantalum market. In its December quarter report, released yesterday, Sons of Gwalia, the world's largest producer of tantalum concentrates, said that demand for capacitors was expected to grow in 2004, leading to increased tantalum demand and higher spot prices. Sons of Gwalia sold 500,240 pounds of tantalum in the December quarter and expects full-year sales to total 2.1 million pounds.
