"and it took just 5 guys"

"and it took just 5 guys"Real good post, Bob. I feel very strongly that "giving in", "cutting and running" (as the US did in Somalia) and "appeasement" in general end up costing many times more in the long run. The stereo-type image of Americans (in their camo tu-tus!) strutting across the planet with six-shooters at the ready has some basis. The American attitude after 911 was to "go get the SOB's". I think that attitude is in the minority in the world to-day. Looking at their situation in Afghanistan, I think Al Qaeda now realize they made a mistake in their assessment of American resolve. I also agree with you in that the rest of the world does take America for granted, and have hidden behind the U.S. defence. However, I am also cognizant of the role that Canada has played in peacekeeping. I have read the book (after months of trying to get it here in the U.S., my daughter bot me a copy in Toronto)by General Romeo Dallaire "Shake Hands with the Devil". He is a Canadian hero! I recommend it highly. 800,000 people tortured and killed in Rwanda in 100 days. Worse than the Holocaust. I have always been a supporter/fan of the UN. After reading it, I recognize the futility of trying to accomplish anything through the United Nations as it is presently configured.
