RE: Re the little guy....a personal story

RE: Re the little guy....a personal storyI have sat on the sidelines and quietly read posts for quite some time now....some good..some not so good..lol...but i do have to agree that the current market conditions do offer one helluva opportunity for those with the patience and the balls to get in. I am what would be considered a newbie to this game as well, not having the experince that many have. I was very fortunate to get into trading by accident in late October 2002 after a late night conversation with a co-worker. I started out with $11,500 Cdn and a tip that I should buy some Nortel at $1.00. Well...the rest is history...and since that fateful day in October I am currently up by the tune of $145,000 in that time...and loving every minute of it. I can't imagine a more invigorating way to gamble and make money at the same time. I completely admit to having an extremely limited knowledge base in the markets and a whole lot of sh-t a$$ luck in the past year and a half. I believe that doing your DD and the blessing of good timing is what it is all about. My best deal was buying ATY at $7.80 and selling at $15.60...now thats what i call fun!! and knock on wood...in the last year and a half I have never lost a single cent on any of my trades. to put an end to my long story...I just want to say that if I can do this...with my limited experience and knowledge...then anyone with the patience and good fortune can do it too!! btw...I'm very long on 2 stocks right now...SAG with 200,000 shares..and TVI with over 600,000 shares...and I'm hoping that I will be forced to change my sign on name soon...since I just turned 40 and I'm hoping that I won't have to wait until 45 to retire...LOL.. all the very best to you all..may you stay strong and stay long... P.S(after some more thought) I guess I should have explained a bit better ... I have taken substantial profits out in the past year for several projects around the home..lol...and I have been in and out of about 20 companies in the past year as well. Some of the profits have been reinvested and sold while a sizeable portion remains for me. I haven't been as active as I was in the beginning 8 months or so...as I am now sitting VERY long on 2 stocks in particular...SAG and TVI. Here's how my position sits as of today...the math will show how much profit I'm sitting on paper wise should I liquidate my holdings Monday morning. SAG 200,000 avg price 0.092 Cdn TVI 400,000 avg price 0.097 Cdn 200,000 avg price 0.214 Cdn (I made 2 large purchases at different times) I believe that translates into roughly $76,000 profit waiting to be taken. I had already last year earned(after buy and sell minus commissions) over $70,000 in profits. My total portfolio is currently over $200,000 but I am anticipating that to change significantly in the next 6 months or so. I'm hoping to sell my SAG at at least $0.30 and my TVI at at least $1.00 in the next 6 months, which i believe is not out of a reasonable scope of possibility. My entire intent of my last post was not in any way to suggest that I know anything more than the average Joe does about this crazy world we call the stock market, but merely to say that if I, with my limited knowledge base and experience can pull off these kind of numbers, that I believe that anyone with the nerve and the time to do a reasonable job of DD can do it too. (btw a ton of luck helps too...LOL). These BBs can be a wonderful source of info along the way as long as one realizes to take alot of the postings with a pinch of salt. Nothing replaces DD. I wish everyone a successful investing experience and may we all retire early !!!
