Klondike Gold to begin St. Joe drilling program
2004-04-27 17:59 ET - News Release
Mr. Trygve Hoy reports
DRILLING - ST. JOE PROPERTY
Klondike Gold will begin drilling the St. Joe property, located approximately eight kilometres west of Cranbrook in southeastern British Columbia. The property is located immediately east of the Bar prospect, which has undergone extensive recent exploration by Chapleau Resources Ltd. It covers as area of approximately 14 square kilometres, from north of Jim Smith Lake to Kiakho Creek.
The St. Joe property extends approximately 1,500 metres along the Cranbrook fault immediately east of the Kiakho stock. The Cranbrook fault and the stock are both assumed to be the main controls for gold mineralization in the area.
Previous work on St. Joe has been mainly directed toward base metal mineralization farther south. Work, which is expected to begin next week by Beaupre Drilling Co., will include drilling two holes, to depths of approximately 200 metres, to test the downdip extension of the Cranbrook fault zone. Considerable alteration, quartz veining and small intrusive dikes are exposed within the fault at surface.
On completion of this short program, drilling will commence on the Thea gold property where drilling and trenching last summer extended the gold-quartz vein system through a strike length of more than 600 metres.
