RE: Just went green on NASsome good points lallfam
with all the talk here about "proven" efficacy of reovirus/reolysin, the fact that very little substantive progress has been made in clinical trials the past 5 years suggests it ain't quite as simple and/or as effective as many here portray.
then when oncy finally started the ph II prostate & ph I glio trials, there was all kinds of speculation and even anticipation/expectation that a pivotal trial was just around the corner, but all that happened was they tested 6 prostate glands and the glio ph I safety trial was halted for 6 months for reportedly "non-safety" issues.
then, when the glio trial finally resumed over 1 year ago, it was expected that interim and even final results for it & ph II prostate would be out soon, as onc was purposely keeping sample sizes small since according to some, reovirus/reolysin was so safe & effective they apparently didn't need much data to support that claim.
recently the "final" prostate results were released about a year after interim results, yet it is all too apparent that they didn't test any additional patients since the interim results had been released a year earlier, though no reasons were given why the delay in finalizing the interim results.
to mask the lack of progress on the prostate trials, the company announced UK approval of a phase i safety trial for systemic administration on the same day, and some here even aillogically suggested that the completion of the ph II prostate trial was necessary to start the ph I systemic trial.
over two months have passed since the announcement that started onc stock's rise, and apparently we are still waiting for enrolment of the first patient.
for a treatment whose saftey & efficacy is openly taken for granted by many here, i find it difficult to reconcile such a view with the disturbing lack of progress in trials to date, considering that if it was as safe & effective, it wouldn't take this long to get results that would attract interest from scientists & investors.
for those who will respond with major pharma conspiracy theories or management exectuing a brilliant master plan, please save it for someone else - the only thing that matters is clinical trial results and these guys have failed to demonstrate that they are capable of producing sufficient timely evidence to convince the markets that they are capable of progressing their discovery, despite more than ample time, imo.
that is the conclusion i draw from today's trading - it is obvious that someone wanted out at any price today - someone with a lot of shares - i don't think the quarterly results prompted it, margin calls are a possible explanation, but unlikely, imo, since the we are past month-end and the markets were up today.
the other possibility is that someone got wind of some not so good news and decided to bail, before management finds something to sugar coat the bad news with, so they can survive the AGM, and draw a pay check for another year whil people here continue to blindly support them.
it looks to me this stock wants to go lower still, perhaps much lower.
